Battery technology has certainly come a long way over the last 10 years. Battery power promises to have several benefits including reduction of harmful fume and sound emissions.
Developing these products has not been without challenges however we are starting to see tools trickling through, including in rail. Perhaps it will be the next generation of battery that will allow us to deal with the demanding torque and runtime requirements however provided the correct tool is chosen there are some great options available now and many others well into development.
Situations like tunnel work and noise sensitive sites are great examples where these tools may go well.
